Man surrenders on weapons charge related to lockdown of Robeson Co. school

ORRUM, NC (WBTW) – A man wanted on a weapons charge related to the lockdown of a Robeson County middle school has surrendered to deputies.

Gary Lynn Gatlin, 48, of Water Tower Rd. in Orrum, surrendered to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday around 10 a.m., according to a press release from the RCSO. Gatlin is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He is being held at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.

“The charge is in relation to the discharging of a weapon that resulted in the lockdown of Orrum Middle School,” stated the release. The RCSO conducted a search of Gatlin’s home and reportedly seized several guns and ammunition.

The Lumberton Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives assisted the RCSO.
