LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — A woman was killed Saturday evening in a confrontation with deputies in Laurens County, the 15th officer-involved shooting in 2022, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
It happened about 8 p.m. on Old Stable Lane, the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office said, adding that all questions should be directed to SLED, which is handling the investigation.
SLED said the woman, identified by the Laurens County Coroner’s Office as Kalah Shannon Gray, 26, of Laurens, died at the scene.
According to SLED, there were 40 officer-involved shootings in the state in 2021 but none in Laurens County.
