MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – A plea hearing is set today for Brittany Simpson, who confessed to killing her father.
She is charged with murder and possession of a firearm in a violent crime in the death of 65-year-old Robert Simpson.
An affidavit says Simpson confessed to shooting her father in 2017 and she is currently being held without bond at the al cannon detention center.
Simpson’s sister reportedly told police Brittany was unstable and that Brittany shot her dad because he was kicking the 31-year-old out of the house. Court records indicated that Robert Simpson’s wife sought an eviction order against their daughter in March 2017.
At a bond hearing in 2017, a Judge set bond at $200,000 for the possession of a firearm but the bond was denied for the murder charge.
Tuesday’s plea hearing starts at 2 p.m. in Downtown Charleston. Count on 2 to keep you updated on air and online.
