Victim of Conway shooting on Fifth Avenue dies


CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – The victim of a shooting in Conway Sunday night at a home on Fifth Avenue has died, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

Conway Police are asking for the community’s help in gathering information related to a shooting that claimed the life of a 21-year-old man. Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden says Jahalil Raheem Rashad Drayton, 21, of Conway, died at Grand Strand Medical Center of wounds sustained in the Sunday night shooting.

According to Lt. Selena Small, officers responded to a home at 1520 Fifth Avenue around 11:24 p.m. in reference to a male victim with a gunshot wound. Drayton was transported to the hospital for treatment, adds Lt. Small, and died Tuesday.

The case is under investigation, but police have not given a possible motive or suspect information. Anyone with information related to the shooting is asked to call the Conway Police Department at 843-248-1790.
