Water systems in the city of Laurinburg and Scotland County are down due to flooding.
“The entire County and City Water Systems will be down due to flooding, until extensive repairs can be made,” according to a press release from the City of Laurinburg Government. “Crews are working tirelessly to make the necessary repairs to get the water systems restored as soon as possible.”
The Division of Water Resources advises that when water is restored, consumers boil all water for human consumption, including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation, or to used bottled water.
“Vigorous boiling for one minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water,” states the release.
Officials also ask water consumers to conserve water whenever possible and say this advisory remains in effect until further written notification is issued.
